iOS Icon Gallery

iOS Icon Gallery is a curated online platform that showcases a vast collection of icon designs from applications available in the iOS App Store. The site is created and maintained by Jim Nielsen, a designer and developer who has been collecting and organizing app icons for historical and aesthetic reference. The primary function of the gallery is to serve as a visual archive, allowing users to browse through thousands of icons sorted by various criteria. Users can filter icons by color, designer, year of release, category (such as games, utilities, productivity, social media, etc.), and even by specific app names. Each icon is displayed in its original square format with a clean, minimal background, making it easy to appreciate the design details. The platform is designed for designers, developers, and anyone interested in mobile app iconography. It allows visitors to explore trends in icon design over the years, compare styles from different developers, and find inspiration for their own projects. The site includes a “Load More” feature to progressively reveal more icons without overwhelming the user, and it supports infinite scrolling for a seamless browsing experience. There is also a search functionality that helps locate specific icons quickly. Beyond browsing, the gallery provides additional resources: users can subscribe to RSS or JSON feeds to stay updated with new additions, and there is a Twitter account (@icongalleries) for announcements and community interaction. The creator also offers a printed book titled “The App Icon Book,” which compiles selected icons in physical form. For users who want to explore icons from other Apple platforms, the site links to related galleries for macOS and watchOS icons.
