Milkdown

Milkdown is a plugin-driven, headless WYSIWYG Markdown editor framework built on ProseMirror, Yjs, and Remark, enabling developers to compose fully customizable rich-text editing experiences with the reliability of the Markdown ecosystem. Released under the MIT License and maintained since 2021 by creator Mirone, the project provides a modular architecture where every component including syntax parsers, themes, UI elements, and editing behaviors is implemented as a composable plugin. The headless design ships without any CSS, giving developers complete control over visual styling to match application brand identity. Real-time collaborative editing is supported through Yjs CRDT integration, enabling multiple users to edit the same document simultaneously with automatic conflict resolution and offline-first synchronization.
