Netlify Deployment Platform

Netlify is a web development platform that automates the build, deployment, and scaling of static sites, single-page applications, and serverless functions from a Git repository. When a developer pushes code to a connected GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket repository, the platform detects the change, runs the build command specified in configuration, and deploys the output to a global CDN with atomic releases that switch traffic instantly between versions. Each deployment gets a unique preview URL, enabling teams to review changes before promoting to production. Serverless functions written in JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Rust are deployed alongside static assets, running on edge network nodes close to users for low-latency API responses. Scheduled functions execute on cron schedules for background tasks. The platform provides built-in handling for form submissions without backend code: HTML forms are automatically detected, submissions are stored in a dashboard, and notifications can be sent to Slack, email, or webhooks. Identity management offers Git-based authentication, role-based access control, and JWT generation for protecting routes and API endpoints. Split testing enables A/B experiments by serving different branch deployments to percentages of traffic. Build plugins extend the deployment pipeline with custom logic at defined lifecycle hooks. The platform includes analytics for page views and performance metrics, environment variable management with team-scoping, deploy notifications through integrations, and domain management with automatic SSL certificate provisioning and renewal through Let's Encrypt.
