Rsbuild

Rsbuild is a high-performance web application build tool powered by Rspack, developed by ByteDance as part of the Rstack ecosystem alongside Rspack, Rspress, Rslib, Rsdoctor, Rstest, and Rslint. The tool delivers build speeds dramatically faster than both Vite and traditional webpack configurations, with development server startup in approximately 1.36 seconds compared to 6.50 seconds for Vite and 21.40 seconds for webpack, production builds in 3.35 seconds, and hot module replacement in 160 milliseconds. Rsbuild achieves this through Rspack which is a Rust-based webpack-compatible bundler with multi-threaded compilation. The framework is designed to be zero-configuration out of the box while remaining fully configurable, integrating the most practical build capabilities from the ecosystem including TypeScript transpilation, React Fast Refresh, Vue HMR, CSS Modules with named exports, PostCSS, Sass, Less, Tailwind CSS, static asset handling, code splitting, tree shaking, and automatic HTML generation. Framework agnostic with official plugins for React, Vue 3, Solid, and Svelte, the tool supports module federation, Node.js polyfills, PWA generation, and SVG optimization. Deep optimizations include automatic minimization of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML through SWC and Lightning CSS, image compression, and persistent caching. The plugin system provides hooks for extending the Rspack configuration, adding custom loaders, and injecting build-time constants. MIT licensed and open source on GitHub with active development.
