About this website
An interactive typography game by Method of Action that teaches letter shaping by having players sculpt letterforms to match target glyphs from famous typefaces. The game presents 10 real letterforms from historic and contemporary typefaces including Lubalin Graph (Herb Lubalin, 1974), Trajan (Carol Twombly, 1989), ITC Edwardian Script (Ed Benguiat, 1994), FF Dax (Hans Reichel, 1997), and Interstate (Tobias Frere-Jones, 1996). Players drag letter nodes to reshape them while the system calculates a similarity percentage score. A minimum of 99% similarity is typically required to advance. The game is built in Flash and requires a keyboard and mouse; it displays a compatibility warning on touch devices and mobile browsers. Created by Mark MacKay with design input from Maria Munuera. Visitors can make donations to support the tool. The site is part of the Method of Action collection which also includes Kern Type (kerning), Color (color theory), and the Bezier Game (vector curves).
