About this website
The Singapore Jewellers Association, abbreviated SJA, was established in 1939 and is the national trade association representing the jewellery industry in Singapore, including retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and importers of gold, diamond, jade, gemstone, and precious metal products. Singapore is a major hub for the jewellery trade in Southeast Asia, with a thriving jewellery retail scene along Orchard Road, Chinatown, and Lucky Plaza, and the country also hosts the annual Singapore International Jewelry Expo which attracts exhibitors and buyers from over thirty countries. The Singapore jewellery industry benefits from the country's position as a Free Trade Zone with zero GST on investment precious metals and a reputation for strict quality assurance standards. SJA establishes codes of ethics and professional conduct for its members, provides gemological training and certification programs, works with the Singapore Assay Office on gold hallmarking standards, and represents jewellers on consumer protection regulations and anti-money laundering compliance requirements for precious metal and gemstone transactions.
