About this website

This open-source application performance monitoring (APM) platform is designed for distributed systems and microservices architectures, providing service and endpoint-level observability for cloud-native applications. Originally created by Wu Sheng and the Chinese APM community at Huawei in 2015, the project joined the Apache Incubator in 2017 and graduated as a top-level Apache Software Foundation project in 2019. Key features include: distributed tracing (automatically tracing requests across microservices with OpenTelemetry, Zipkin, and Jaeger-compatible span data, supporting Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, Go, Lua, and C++ auto-instrumentation agents), service mesh observability (native support for Istio, Envoy, and Linkerd service mesh telemetry via access log service and Mixer adapter), service topology map (real-time visualization of service dependencies, call volumes, latency, and error rates), metrics monitoring (JVM, CPU, memory, GC, thread pool, database connection pool, and custom metrics via OpenTelemetry and Micrometer), alarm and alerting (rule-based alerting on metrics thresholds with webhook notifications to Slack, DingTalk, Feishu, and email), log collection and analysis (structured log aggregation with trace-log correlation for root cause analysis), database and cache monitoring (SQL and NoSQL database slow query detection, connection pool monitoring, and Redis cache hit rate analysis), browser monitoring (Real User Monitoring for frontend page load time, AJAX errors, and user journey tracking), profiling (continuous profiling with CPU, memory, and thread dump for on-demand deep diagnostics), and storage backends (ElasticSearch, BanyanDB, H2, MySQL, TiDB, PostgreSQL with pluggable storage architecture).
