A free Git and Mercurial client for Windows and macOS developed by Atlassian, currently at version 4.2.18 on macOS and 3.4.31 on Windows, designed to simplify distributed version control through a visual interface that eliminates the need for command-line Git knowledge. The application provides a graphical branching diagram that visualizes repository history and team progress at a glance, interactive staging that allows committing or reverting changes by file, hunk, or individual line, code diff viewing with syntax highlighting for reviewing changesets before merging, and integrated remote repository management for searching and cloning from within the interface. Advanced features include Git Large File Storage support for tracking large binary assets, built-in Git-flow workflow templates for maintaining clean branch structures, submodule management for handling project dependencies and groupings, local commit search across all branches and history, interactive rebase for cleaning up commit history before pushing, and cherry-pick and stash support for moving changes between branches. Micah Sharp, Head of Technology at Red Giant, describes the tool as magic for jumping between branches and staying on top of codebase changes compared to using the command line. A Sourcetree for Windows Enterprise edition provides installer packages for managed deployment at scale across enterprise environments through group policy and software distribution systems. The application integrates with Bitbucket for project planning, code collaboration, continuous integration, and deployment workflows, and is available through a beta program for early access to new features.
