Svensk Elektronik

Svensk Elektronik is the trade association representing the electronics manufacturing industry in Sweden, serving companies that design, manufacture, and supply electronic products, components, and systems. The Swedish electronics sector includes companies specializing in industrial control systems, telecommunications equipment, automotive electronics for brands such as Volvo and Scania, medical devices produced by firms in the Karolinska Institute innovation cluster, and defense electronics for Saab and Ericsson. Sweden's electronics industry has a strong tradition of innovation, with Ericsson being one of the pioneers of mobile telecommunications and a major contributor to the development of 5G technology standards through its research centers in Kista, Stockholm, also known as Wireless Valley or Mobile Valley. Svensk Elektronik represents electronics manufacturers, printed circuit board assemblers, contract manufacturers, and component distributors across Sweden. The association monitors and influences Swedish and European regulations affecting the electronics industry, including the EU RoHS directive restricting hazardous substances, the WEEE directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment, and the REACH regulation on chemicals. The association also organizes industry networking events, provides training on electronics manufacturing standards, and publishes reports on the Swedish electronics market.
