TypingMind is a frontend chat interface designed for interacting with large language models (LLMs). It allows users to connect their own API keys from multiple AI providers, including OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), and others, enabling direct, pay-as-you-go usage without monthly subscription fees. The platform aggregates these models into a single, unified chat environment, so users can switch between different LLMs within the same conversation or create separate chat sessions for each model. The interface includes support for chat profiles, which let users define distinct system prompts, model parameters, and context settings for different use cases—such as coding assistance, creative writing, research, or customer support. Conversations can be organized into folders for better management, and the system provides up to nine example prompts to help users get started quickly. A knowledge base feature allows users to upload documents or text files, which the AI can reference during conversations, making it suitable for tasks like document analysis, summarization, or question-answering based on custom data. TypingMind also offers a thinking mode, which enables the model to reason step-by-step before generating responses, improving accuracy for complex problem-solving or logical tasks. A background mode keeps the chat session active even when the browser tab is not in focus, allowing users to continue receiving responses without interruption.
