About this website
The Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, abbreviated UMFCCI, is the apex private sector organization in Myanmar, headquartered in Yangon. Established in 1919 as the Burmese Chamber of Commerce and reconstituted under its current name in 1999, UMFCCI represents the collective interests of Myanmar's business community across all sectors of the economy including agriculture, manufacturing, energy, mining, tourism, banking, and trade. The Federation operates through regional and state chambers of commerce across Myanmar's fourteen states and regions, from Kachin State in the north to Tanintharyi Region in the south, and also includes sector-specific associations covering garment manufacturing, fisheries, rice milling, jade and gemstone trading, and construction. Myanmar's economy is heavily dependent on natural resource exports including natural gas, jade, timber, and agricultural products such as rice and pulses. UMFCCI serves as the liaison between the private sector and government ministries, represents Myanmar businesses in ASEAN economic forums, and organizes trade exhibitions and business matching events for foreign investors.
