Wispr Flow

Wispr Flow is a voice dictation application that converts spoken language into polished, written text across multiple platforms, including macOS, Windows, iPhone, and Android. Unlike basic speech-to-text tools that simply transcribe raw audio, Wispr Flow processes natural speech by automatically removing filler words such as “um,” “like,” and “you know,” correcting repetition (e.g., “the the”), and adjusting informal phrases into clear, grammatically correct sentences. The tool operates in real time within virtually any application—email clients, messaging apps, word processors, web browsers, note-taking software, and more—allowing users to dictate without switching contexts. The core workflow begins when a user speaks naturally into a microphone. Wispr Flow’s AI model distinguishes between intended content and speech artifacts, then produces text that is ready for immediate use. For instance, a dictated sentence like “umm, hope your week has started well…I was talking to Cheyene earlier but reception was really bad and I think their going to handle the first part of the project, but I’m not totally sure” would be transformed into something like “I hope your week has started well. I was talking to Cheyene earlier, but reception was poor. I think they are going to handle the first part of the project, though I’m not certain.” The system handles capitalization, punctuation, and common homophone errors automatically, reducing the need for post-editing. Users can control the output format with voice commands—for example, saying “new line” or “period” to structure paragraphs. The software also recognizes contextual cues: it can distinguish between a question and a statement based on intonation, and it adapts to different writing styles, from casual emails to formal reports.
