About this website

Angry IP Scanner (often abbreviated as ipscan) is a free and open-source cross-platform network scanner that scans IP addresses and ports, providing fast and reliable results for network administrators, security researchers, and curious users. Originally created by Anton Keks in 2000, Angry IP Scanner is written in Java and runs on any platform with a Java Runtime Environment. It has been downloaded over 30 million times and is one of the most popular network scanning tools for desktop use. Key features: fast multithreaded scanning: Angry IP Scanner uses a configurable number of threads (up to hundreds) to scan IP ranges concurrently, capable of scanning the entire IPv4 address space (0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255, approximately 4 billion addresses) in under an hour on a fast connection. IP range scanning: scan any IP range specified in CIDR notation (192.168.1.0/24), range notation (192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254), or with wildcards (192.168.1.*). Hostname resolution: resolves hostnames for responding hosts via DNS reverse lookup. Port scanning: scan specific TCP ports to determine which services (HTTP, SSH, FTP, etc.) are running on each host. Configurable port ranges and timeout values. MAC address and vendor detection: for local network scans, displays MAC addresses and resolves the hardware vendor from the OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier) database. Web detect: detects web servers and retrieves HTTP response headers and server software. Custom fetchers: extensible fetcher system allowing custom data extraction via built-in or user-defined scripts (NetBIOS information, packet loss, filtered port detection). Export: results can be exported to CSV, TXT, XML, or IP-Port list files for further analysis or import into other tools. Favorites: save frequently scanned ranges. Cross-platform: Linux, macOS, Windows (requires Java 11+). GPLv2.
