About this website

An interactive color theory game created by Maria Munuera and Mark MacKay for the Method of Action project, teaching color matching through gameplay. Players adjust hue and saturation sliders to match a target color presented in a side-by-side comparison, with game mechanics similar to the classic Mastermind game. The game tracks a cumulative score out of 10 based on accuracy across all rounds. Optional game modes include complementary color matching, analogous color selection, triadic schemes, and tetradic color relationships. Before starting, players are prompted to calibrate their screen brightness and contrast for best results. An experimental color-blind assistance mode uses shape overlays (circle, square, triangle) as additional visual cues so players with color vision deficiencies can still play and score well. The game runs entirely in the browser with bilingual support in English and Spanish. Score sharing to Twitter is built in. Created by Maria Munuera and Mark MacKay, part of the Method of Action collection of design education tools.
