About this website
The Croatian Tourism Association, known by its Croatian acronym HUT, was founded in 2018 as the umbrella sectoral organization representing the Croatian tourism industry. Headquartered in Zagreb, the association brings together leading tourism companies, hotel groups, destination management companies, tour operators and tourism service providers across Croatia, a country where tourism accounts for approximately twenty percent of gross domestic product and is the most important sector of the national economy. Croatia attracted over twenty million international visitors annually before the global pandemic, drawn to its Adriatic coastline with over a thousand islands, historic cities like Dubrovnik and Split, and eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The association advocates for tourism sector policies including sustainable tourism development to manage overtourism pressures in coastal destinations, digital transformation of tourism services, workforce development for seasonal tourism employment, and strategic investment in tourism infrastructure and destination marketing.
