Granola

Granola is an AI-powered notepad designed for professionals who manage multiple meetings in succession, often referred to as back-to-back meetings. Its primary function is to allow users to stay mentally present and engaged in conversations while the software automatically captures, organizes, and enriches the content of each meeting. Instead of requiring users to type notes manually, Granola listens to the spoken dialogue (via a live transcription feature) and simultaneously generates a structured, searchable record of the discussion. This record includes key points, action items, decisions, and notable quotes, all of which are timestamped and linked to the original audio transcript for later reference. The product is built around several core modules: the Notepad, the Chat feature, the iPhone app, and the recently introduced Briefs. The Notepad is the central workspace where raw meeting notes—whether typed by the user or automatically captured—are transformed into a polished, readable summary. Granola’s AI applies context-aware formatting, identifying speakers, extracting action items, and highlighting critical information such as deadlines, names, and numbers. The Chat feature enables users to interact with their meeting history conversationally. Because the AI already “knows” what the user has discussed across all previous meetings, it can answer questions like “What did the client say about the budget last week?” or “Remind me of the next steps from the Tuesday engineering sync.” This eliminates the need to manually search through folders or separate note-taking systems.
