About this website

Oh My Zsh is an open-source, community-driven framework for managing Zsh configuration, created by Robby Russell in 2009 and maintained by Marc Cornellà and Carlo Sala with contributions from thousands of developers worldwide. The framework transforms the default Zsh experience into a highly productive development environment by bundling over 300 plugins and 150 themes that cover a wide spectrum of programming languages, cloud platforms, and development tools. Featured plugins include Git with over 100 aliases and helper functions for branch management, staging, and rebasing, Docker with compose and context shortcuts, Kubernetes with kubectl aliases and namespace management, Python with virtual environment activation, pip aliases, and conda integration, NodeJS with nvm and npm wrappers, Go with GOPATH management, Rust with cargo completions, Terraform with workspace and plan aliases, AWS with profile switching and MFA helpers, Heroku with app and addon management, and database tools for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis. Themes range from the minimal default robbyrussell to elaborate powerline-style prompts with Git status indicators, virtual environment names, Kubernetes context, and custom color schemes. Installation is performed via a single curl or wget command that clones the repository and sets up the configuration automatically, with built-in auto-update functionality that checks for new versions and prompts for upgrade. The project is released under the MIT license and is sponsored by Planet Argon, a Ruby on Rails consultancy, with community support available through Discord and Open Collective.
