About this website
PrusaSlicer is a free and open-source 3D printing slicing application developed by Prusa Research, founded by Josef Prusa in 2012. Based on Slic3r, PrusaSlicer has evolved into one of the most advanced slicing software packages available. Key features: supports FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) and SLA (Stereolithography) 3D printers including the entire Prusa printer lineup plus third-party printers via custom profiles. Advanced slicing algorithms with variable layer height for optimal quality versus speed tradeoff, automatically adjusting layer height based on model curvature. Organic supports (tree-like branching supports) that grow from the build plate to support overhangs with minimal contact area, reducing post-processing and material waste. Multi-material printing support with wipe tower, filament swap sequences, and color painting tools for assigning different filaments to model regions. Ironing feature for smooth top surfaces by re-traversing solid layers with hot extruder. Fuzzy skin effect for textured surfaces. Custom G-code generation with editable start, end, and layer-change G-code templates. Cut tool for splitting large models at arbitrary angles with alignment pegs and holes for assembly. Solid infill patterns including monotonic, aligned rectilinear, and Hilbert curve. SLA mode with automatic support generation, hollowing, drain holes, and anti-aliasing for resin printers. Profile system with Simple, Advanced, and Expert modes for different user skill levels. Built-in firmware flasher for Prusa printers. Cross-platform on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open source under AGPL.
