About this website
The Singapore Timber Association, abbreviated STA, is a trade association representing companies involved in the timber and wood products industry in Singapore. Singapore has historically been a major hub for the timber trade in Southeast Asia, serving as a processing and re-export center for tropical hardwoods, plywood, veneer, mouldings, doors, furniture components, and other wood products sourced from Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and other timber-producing countries. STA members include timber importers, sawmill operators, wood processing companies, furniture manufacturers, and distributors of engineered wood products and panel products. The Association works with the Singapore government's Building and Construction Authority to promote the use of sustainable and legally harvested timber in construction, advocates for members on customs and trade regulations affecting wood product imports, provides technical information on timber grading standards and wood treatment requirements, and facilitates networking among companies along the timber supply chain from forest source to end-user.
