Sprite Cow

Sprite Cow is a web-based tool that helps developers extract CSS background-position, width, and height values from a sprite sheet image. Users upload or drag a sprite sheet onto the canvas, then click and drag to select individual sprite icons within the image. The tool automatically calculates the exact pixel values for each selected sprite and outputs ready-to-use CSS declarations including background-position offsets and dimensions. These can be copied directly into a stylesheet without manual measurement. The interface shows a grid overlay on the uploaded image, and highlighted selections clearly indicate which area is being captured. CSS sprite sheets were a common performance optimization technique that combined multiple small images into one file to reduce HTTP requests.
