About this website
The Economics Association of Zambia, abbreviated EAZ, is a professional body of economists, researchers, policy analysts and business leaders in Zambia, headquartered in Lusaka. Founded to provide a platform for economic analysis, research and policy dialogue, EAZ brings together professionals from the Bank of Zambia, the Ministry of Finance, the Zambia Revenue Authority, universities, commercial banks, mining companies, and international organizations operating in the country. Zambia is Africa's second-largest copper producer after the Democratic Republic of Congo, with copper accounting for over seventy percent of export earnings, making copper price fluctuations and mining taxation central topics for economic analysis. EAZ organizes the annual Zambia Economic Conference, publishes research papers on topics including mineral taxation reform, debt sustainability following Zambia's sovereign default and debt restructuring under the G20 Common Framework, agricultural input subsidy programs, and exchange rate management of the Zambian Kwacha. The association provides advisory input to government economic policy formulation and budget preparation.
