About this website
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the premier private sector organization in Guyana, founded in 1889 and headquartered in Georgetown, the capital city. As one of the oldest business organizations in the English-speaking Caribbean, the Chamber represents hundreds of member businesses across all sectors of the Guyanese economy including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, retail, financial services, tourism, and the rapidly growing petroleum sector following the major oil discoveries in the Stabroek Block off Guyana's Atlantic coast starting in 2015. Guyana has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world due to its oil production, and the Georgetown Chamber plays an increasingly important role in representing private sector interests in policy discussions about local content regulations for the oil and gas sector, management of oil revenues through the Natural Resource Fund, infrastructure development, and diversification of the non-oil economy. Member services include business networking events, policy advocacy, trade facilitation support, and representation on national advisory bodies and boards.
